Challenge
JMU STEM Education and Outreach faced a significant growth barrier: a limited donor base that stalled their ability to expand educational opportunities. Without attracting new supporters, the program risked losing the chance to reach more youth—especially those from low-economic status backgrounds—and inspire them toward STEM education and careers. To address this, they needed a compelling fundraising video to help share their mission and attract new donors.
Their challenge wasn’t just about funding—it was about connection. While the organization had a compelling mission and track record, their story wasn’t reaching the broader audience of potential donors who could make an impact. To grow the program and amplify their reach, they needed to communicate their mission in a way that resonated emotionally and inspired action.
Solution
We produced a ~2.5-minute, mission-driven fundraising video designed to inspire donors and convey the transformative power of JMU STEM Outreach. The video combined heartfelt on-camera interviews from key stakeholders, immersive b-roll of STEM activities in action, and compelling music to create an emotionally resonant narrative.Â
Viewers were introduced to the program through the eyes of children discovering the magic of science, technology, engineering, and math—emphasizing curiosity, confidence, and belonging. Stakeholders, including leaders from JMU STEM and the Boys & Girls Club, shared personal accounts of how the program builds critical thinking skills, nurtures collaboration, and opens doors to future career opportunities. Moments of student interaction and joy captured on film brought these messages to life, underscoring the program’s tangible impact.Â
The video closed with a clear call-to-action, inviting donors to help expand these opportunities to more young minds. By blending powerful visuals, authentic voices, and a hopeful tone, the final piece offered a compelling case for support and a lasting tool for ongoing donor outreach.Â
Results
The fundraising video gave JMU STEM Outreach a dynamic way to share their mission with clarity and heart. With its combination of emotional storytelling and high production value, the piece has expanded the organization’s reach, connected them to new donor audiences, and strengthened their ability to advocate for the importance of STEM education.
