Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative Demonstrates Its Power Outage Response
Challenge
Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative wanted to address public misunderstandings about how power outages are handled, particularly during severe weather. Without a clear understanding of the steps involved, members and community stakeholders may assume that bad weather automatically leads to outages, without recognizing the coordination, response efforts, and safety measures required to restore power.
Solution
Appeal Production created a two-minute educational video showing SVEC’s power outage response process from start to finish. Filmed on location, the video follows a simulated outage scenario to illustrate the workflow and the people involved in responding to service interruptions.
Combining on-location footage, voiceover narration, motion graphics, and music, the video makes the process clear and accessible. English closed captions and custom thumbnails provide additional support for accessibility and sharing.
Results
The finished video gives SVEC a media-ready resource to educate members, support internal training, and help community stakeholders better understand its outage-response process. By providing a clearer look at the work behind power restoration, the video helps SVEC communicate transparently, set realistic expectations, and reinforce its commitment to safe, reliable service.
